Human nature boggles my mind at times. I am standing in my bank and they are running some sort of special, so they have a nice person at the door greeting people as they come in. It’s nothing fancy and it’s not a hard sell of any kind. It’s just a friendly hello and an opening or the door. So I am standing there filling out my deposit slip when another gentlman walks in. When the girl opened the door he sort of snarled at her and then made a sarcastic comment to the effect of “yea, I bet you’re happy to see my money”.
Listen, I don’t care what kind of bad day you are having, when someone is nice to you with no subversive motive, your job is to at least be civil. You don’t have to be cheery or chipper or any other positive adjectives, you just have to be civil. Take your frustrations to either whoever caused them or whoever is in a position to remedy them. Not some random nice person.
‘Nuff said
I just watched Kevin and Alex on Jimmy Fallon. Yes, I am a big diggnation fanboy. It was a bit awkward because jimmy and the guys both had to try to explain what digg and and diggnation were to the masses. oh well it was still cool to see them on TV. here is the clip from NBC (lets hope they leave media up for a while).
Its not the most elegant plan out there i feel but it seems to have worked for now. if you will notice up top there is a new page tab called Twitter Updates. This is exactly what it says it is. it is a feed of all my twitter updates. At least this implementation is cleaner than the failed twitter tools fiasco of yesterday. I don’t claim that this new feature is terribly functional, after all why wouldn’t you just read my twitter updates on twitter itself, but whatever. its all cool. Thats all for now.
Well this has not worked out exactly how i had expected. I know i have not been posting to my blog all that often as of late (ok, i mean as of “ever”) but i have started to twitter a bit. not a ton, but some. So i thought i would look up some plugins for wordpress that pulled my tweets down and also sent any actual posts up to twitter. What i failed to take into account was that as of recently a large number of my tweets have been auto generated by Raptr. Also was the fact that most of my tweets don’t make a lick of sense out of context. So when Twitter Tools pulled all my tweets down it really mangled my front page. Don’t get me wrong the plugin does behave exacatly as the author intended, and it would have rendered much better results if i were better at actually posting to my blog. but when the front page turns into nothing but a page full of disjointed tweets (here is a screenshot of what that looked like) and no “real” (i use that word loosely) content it is not so useful. So i guess i am now on the hunt for another way to tie the 2 together. I will still use Twitter tools to update twitter when i post to my blog, so thats something at least.
Yep, its that time again. That time of the year when i realize that it has been a while since i updated my anime list, let alone my site as a whole. so to all my adoring fans out there who have been wondering what i have been watching, you cam check it out once again.
Sorry that i do not have a more recent photo of my collection. it is actually quite impressive now. I am still using those 2 racks pictured here but they are nearly completely full. I moved into a new apartment last summer and though I have collected a lot of new anime and gotten several new toys such as a new 42″ LCD HDTV, the livng room is a bit small and the racks are sort of tucked back behind the TV so they are accessible just not really photographable. I will try to take a photo of the whole setup some day once i get the space cleaned up and organized.
Well i still have not done the final project yet, but i did do another proof of concept experiment. Last time the results were less than appetizing. This time the experiment had its own set of hurdles. I was able to use white bread which was in fact a much more neutral medium and didn’t make the bread taste weird. However, I guess I should not have used black-cherry jello (it had the unfortunate coincidence of making the bread look like a slab of cold, raw meat). Also, I learned that gummy bears will bond permanently with jello (well as permanent as anything involving jello can be). I suppose this has to do with the fact that gummy bears are made from the same core ingredient as jello, gelatin. I will hopefully finish this wacked out experiment some day, but until then…
meh… its silly, but it was a fun way to waste some time.
So I was just cruising around wikipedia looking for why honey is sold in bears. well I never really got an answer as to “why”, but in the process I did run across this VERY interesting article on Jars. who ever knew that the simple mayonnaise jar had such a stunning past
Well my collection is becoming more of a monolith than anything else. I just recently purchased 2 new DVD racks (identical to my second rack from before). With these i was able to stack a 3rd rack on top of the other 2 (giving me the much needed space i was looking for). This purchase was just in time too, as i had a stack of DVD’s on top of my TV that got so tall it fell over yesterday. For anyone who wonders what such a massive collection contains, i will be updating my anime list page, probably tomorrow. but i have to get to sleep in a bad way now, i have to be up at 6:45 tomorrow (yay school shows… blechh).
I saw this article over at lockergnome.com, and i did link it in my shared google reader. But i wanted to post a copy of it here directly as well. This is what we have all been fearing for a while now. Its true, but what makes it worse is that Microsoft’s “resolution” feature is broken. here you go, read for yourself
The WGA kill switch did kick in when I scheduled a chkdsk to run on next reboot. They are lying about it not kicking in – the keyboard was LOCKED – there was no prior notification – those WGA screens came up AFTER the keyboard was locked. Computer came up only in SAFE MODE. Corporate customer. When I clicked on RESOLVE now, it went to a go.microsoft site THAT NO LONGER EXISTS. I have witnesses to all this.
Computer was purchased 2 years ago.
Took it to Best Buy at 8pm. Best Buy looked at the hologram sticker and said the computer was genunine. Someone there mentioned the reseller – a MAJOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA NAME – had been cited for non-genuine licenses, but that it was in the newspapers. This reseller was ALSO burned by Microsoft themselves. While acknowledging our company had been swindled, none of this was fair business practice, they offered their “911 service” – meaning, 24-hour turnaround – which would have cost us $900 dollars. They tried to figure out a way to lower the cost to us. However, all our biz programs would have to be reloaded. This means we’re SOL for 3 days.
So who knows what exactly is going on, except somewhere along the line a racketeer is being protected, and I’ll slam that on Bill Gates desk. The buck stops there.
